‘Zazuu in the zoo’: Singer Portable to spend weekend in prison after being arrested

Popular Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola also known as Portable has found himself in Police custody.

Ogun State police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi released a statement confirming that Portable has been arrested and was currently being held at the state headquarters of the police in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

The arrest was conducted after the singer refused to submit himself to the Police. The Ogun State police spokesperson revealed that Portable was arrested after refusing to show up despite five invitations being sent to him. The singer had also resisted arrest on March 29, 2023, and according to the Police, Portable behaved irrationally and insulted the police officers carrying out their legal duty.

It was stated that it is an action punishable by the laws of Nigeria.

The statement in part:

“The NPF will take all necessary steps to investigate his actions and ensure that he is prosecuted for any criminal activity he may have committed depending on the severity of the offense. The Police will not condone any unruly act, assault or attack on its officers who are on lawful duty. We need to respect our law enforcement agents who perpetually take the risk of maintaining law and order and fight crimes and criminality in our society.”
