Update July 21, 2016: Jeffree Star said a video response to Kat Von D was coming, and he kept his word. Here's what he has to say about the allegations Von D made.

This story was originally published on July 19, 2016 at 2 P.M.

One of the things we love most about the online beauty community is how tight-knit it is—especially among the network of influencers and makeup artists. Even though many are starting their own lines and filming similar tutorials, the encouragement among them is uplifting; they'll sing praises for new launches, even fly halfway across the country to cheers their on-screen friends IRL. (For example, at the launch for Jaclyn Hill's new Becca palette, it was like a who's who of YouTubers there—we spotted Manny Gutierrez, Bretman Rock, and Patrick Starr, to only name a few.)

And—up until this point—there's no friendship we could think of that encompassed #goals more than Kat Von D and Jeffree Star's. The two friends go way back to 2011, before Instagram beauty was even a thing, when they appeared on the reality show L.A. ink together. Von D is the artist behind most of Star's ink, and she even named a lipstick ("Jeffree," a hot pink shade) after him. Since then, the two have had a meteoric rise into the beauty world. Who hasn't lusted after one of Kat's lipsticks or Jeffree's highlighters?

So it was a shocker when Von D announced on her Facebook page last night that she wants to "disassociate" herself from Star, due to his "inappropriate behavior." (If you follow his social media pages, you know he's not shy to call out things he disagrees with. "Bullying" some have called it. Earlier this year he made headlines for speaking out against Kylie Jenner's makeup line because it had a batch of defective lipstick wands.)
