Who Is Aspyr Media, Developers of the KOTOR Remake?

Today’s Sony PlayStation Showcase had a little of something for everybody.

Superhero fans were treated to a trio of trailers with Guardians of the Galaxy, a Spider-Man sequel and a brand new Wolverine game and Sony fans got the aforementioned Insomniac titles, plus Uncharted PS5 and PC ports, GT 7 details and plenty of juicy footage of God of War: Ragnarok, as it’s now officially titled.

But, most importantly for some, the previously-leaked Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake was officially announced as a PS5 timed exclusive, coming from Aspyr Media.

But who is Aspyr Media and is the KOTOR remake in safe hands? Let’s take a look at the studio’s history!

Very little was shared about the KOTOR remake, over than some short CG footage of the protagonist Revan, plus some voiceover and an image of the Aspyr Media logo – but who is that studio?

KOTOR fans will be happy to know that the remake is being handled by one of the best studios for remakes and ports in the business.

Since its formation in 1996, the studio has worked on some huge franchises including Tomb Raider, The Sims, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Spider-Man and more, but most importantly, they have a major pedigree in remaking, porting and re-releasing Star Wars titles.

In its storied history, Aspyr Media has worked on no fewer than 17 Star Wars titles, with the latest KOTOR remake being the 18th.
