When is Deltarune Chapter 2 Coming Out, Is it Getting Released for Free?
Indie game Undertale celebrated its 6th anniversary on September 15, and a new announcement from its main developer Toby Fox revealed when is Deltarune Chapter 2 coming out.
Deltarune is the spiritual successor of Undertale, using the same presentation, the same old-school graphics, and tons of original game systems heavily inspired by classic JRPG. However, it’s set in a new world with new characters, and the world of Undertale is left untouched. Deltarune Chapter 1 was released back in October 2018, and now Chapter 2 finally has a release date.
Toby Fox held with Fangamer on September 15 a special live stream for the 6th anniversary of Undertale. Where the Fangamer team played Deltarune Chapter 1 with live commentary from the developer. The release date for Deltarune Chapter 2 was revealed at the end of the stream with some gameplay.

Deltarune Chapter 2 release date, price, what you should know
Deltarune Chapter 2 will be released on September 17, 2021, at 8 PM EST. Click here for a countdown to release. Deltarune Chapter 2 will be available on Windows and Mac.
Just like Deltarune Chapter 1‘s first release on PC, Chapter 2 should be available for free at launch. Note that a trailer was also shared, you can find it below.
According to the game’s official page, you can play Chapter 2 even if you haven’t cleared Deltarune Chapter 1. However, if you did play Chapter 1 until the ending and saved after the credits, you can transfer the save to Chapter 2.
The page also has several messages from Toby Fox. In particular, the developer confirmed that Deltarune Chapter 2 will not be the ending of Deltarune. Meaning that at least one more Chapter will be released at some point.
Deltarune Chapter 1 was first released without prior warning in October 2018. Since then, Toby Fox has been regularly sharing updates for Chapter 2. Toby Fox jokingly mentioned in 2020 for the 5th anniversary of Undertale that it’d be best to forget about Deltarune until it releases.
Note that Toby Fox isn’t the sole developer of Deltarune, and the updates shared through Twitter also included pixel art from designer and developer Tuyoki.
Undertale is regarded as a legendary game, and it has a particularly huge community in Japan. Virtual YouTubers often stream the game as well. It looks like Deltarune will be following the game path. You can find the special stream of Deltarune Chapter 1 below.
