Wheel of Fortune -

This card of the Major Arcana is full of symbols. It’s also one of the most mystical-looking, especially in the Rider Waite Smith styled cards. This is because of the presence of alchemical symbols and letters that spell out T, A, R, O (spelling out TAROT if you return back to T). You’ll find a blue sphinx, a red humanoid with a wolf’s head, and the representations of the fixed astrological signs in each corner reading books, and a snake. Without getting too much into the symbolism, The Wheel of Fortune is surrounded, literally, by knowledge. The inscriptions at the center of the wheel are the alchemical symbols for mercury, sulfur, water, and salt, known as life’s foundation.

The Wheel of Fortune and all of the elements that make up the card is a reminder that life continues to go through its cycles and all things return back to the middle at some point. The moon, sun, and planets move through the zodiac; we are born, grow, and then pass on. There is nothing that is truly stagnant in the world. There will always be ups and downs, but you can choose to use these vicissitudes to become more knowledgeable and wise.

Do not stand still and let time have its way with you. When you draw The Wheel of Fortune, life is reaching out to you and asking that you actively pursue your dreams. If you do that, you can change your world. Even if you’re perfectly content with what you have right now, then let The Wheel of Fortune be a reminder that all things do eventually change. You have to expect that even what you have now can transform.

Smile when things go well. When things go wrong, tell yourself, “This too shall pass.”
