INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Julia Moffitt visited barbecue heaven on the northwest side of Indianapolis for this week's "What's Cooking" segment.
Hank's Smoked Brisket has been in Indianapolis for years, starting out as a food truck, but 12 years ago it opened in a little shop off Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., south of W. 38th Street. They serve authentic Texas BBQ and customers love it!
"I've spent a lot of time in the military in Texas, where brisket is king, and Hank here does it better than anyone else in the area," said one customer.
In fact, Hank and his family say they make two trips a year to Texas to pick up mesquite wood, which gives them the "difference in taste."
Not only does the restaurant carry Hank's name, so does one of their signature sandwiches, the "Big Hank." It's got brisket, pork loin, smoked sausage, sour cream and BBQ sauce.
