“This is probably not what they’re hoping for”: The Game of Thrones Role Nicholas Hoult Almost Grabbed Before Superman Legacy
Nicholas Hoult seems to be a huge fan of Game of Thrones. He watched the first season of the hit HBO series, but he could continue after that. And the actor is waiting to catch a cold to wrap up the series, as what he told Page Six.
But Game of Thrones could have turned out very differently if Nicholas Hoult had been in it. And it became almost true because Hoult was to be featured in the series before he grabbed the role in the upcoming anticipated James Gunn flick. As per the actor himself, he did audition for the crucial role in GOT back then.
Before Superman: Legacy, Nicholas Hoult Almost Grasped Key Role in the Game of Thrones
Nicholas Hoult told Page Six at the Montclair Film Festival’s screening of his film Tolkien (in which he plays the titular character) that he thinks he “auditioned for Jon Snow.” He auditioned for the part while filming Clash of the Titans in 2009.
“I remember it because I was filming ‘Clash of the Titans’ at the time, so I had long hair extensions. They gave me a ponytail and also a very patchy fake tan. So I remember being like, ‘This is probably not what they’re hoping for,’ and it obviously wasn’t.”
No doubt, Game of Thrones is known for its star-studded cast, but it could’ve been leveled a bit up if Hoult had aced the audition.
Nicholas Hoult’s Skins Co-Stars Made it to the Game of Thrones Auditions
Nicholas Hoult’s Skins co-stars Joe Dempsie and Hannah Murray both got it made with their Thrones auditions. They landed the roles of Gendry and Gilly, respectively. Meanwhile, the irony is that the former Skins actor Joe Dempsie revealed that he, too, tried to get the role of Jon Snow. He told Esquire:
“I auditioned for the pilot. I had no idea what Game of Thrones was. Didn’t get it. Kind of forgot about it. Nobody knew it was going to become the biggest TV show on the planet at that point. It was just another audition.”
Demonise was rejected a total of three times by producers of the TV fantasy drama. After facing the rejection, the actor later studied the books and auditioned for two other Night’s Watch roles. But unfortunately, he has to look down in the mouth again.
Besides this, Hoult starred in the X-Men sequel Dark Phoenix and shared the screen with Game of Thrones‘ Sophie Turner, who portrays Sansa Stark.
