This Hello Kitty Grocery Store in Hong Kong's Sai Wan Yata Is Unreal
By now Hello Kitty merchandise has become so ubiquitous that the novelty effect of seeing something as mundane as a toothbrush or floss done up in pink with the Sanrio signature has almost worn off. But just when you thought you had seen all the Hello Kitty merch there is to see, a store in Hong Kong has found a new way to serve up the beloved cartoon character—and it's unreal.
There is now a Hello Kitty grocery store, and it's the stuff that childhood dreams are made of. Located in the Sai Wan outpost of the Yata department store, the pop-up supermarket sells, incredibly, about 250 Hello Kitty–themed goods. That means if you're ambitious, you could stock your entire kitchen with nothing but Hello Kitty foods and beverages. There are familiar products like Hello Kitty wine and a smorgasbord of Hello Kitty sweets, including candy, cupcakes, macarons, cookies, roll cake, and cotton candy that comes stuffed with a strobe light.
