The Fresh Market to close Fishers store, 14 others nationwide

A Fishers grocery store is among 15 in nine states that is closing its doors.

FISHERS, Ind. (WTHR) - A Fishers grocery store is among 15 in nine states that is closing its doors.

The Fresh Market announced the closures Monday. The store at 116th Street and Cumberland Road in Fishers is among those shutting down, the company said.

The company said the "great progress" they've seen from a turnaround plan has not been realized at all of their stores.

"As a result, we have decided to close these long-term, underperforming stores," CEO Larry Appel said in a release.

Stores in Carmel and on N. College Avenue, as well as Evansville and Fort Wayne locations, are not among those being closed. The list of closures included stores in Illinois, Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Appel said the company would work to relocate impacted employees to other stores where possible.
