The 5 Worst Pokemon From Diamond and Pearl
The Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes are nearly upon us, so we thought it’d be a good time to go back and pick out five of the worst Pokemon in the Sinnoh region.
For this list, we are focusing exclusively on Pokemon that made their debut in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, rather than including Pokemon from the previous generations that were also available in the region.
We tried to weigh a few different options here when deciding which Pokemon to pick for our list. We included factors like how useful they were in combat to just how much we disliked their overall character design.
It’s very possible some of your favorites may be on the list or you have others you dislike more, so feel free to weigh in via the comments at the bottom of the article on who you think should have been on this list.

5. Spiritomb
We’re going to start this list with a Pokemon that is on the list mostly because of its design with the very strange looking Spiritomb.
Spiritomb is a Ghost/Dark type Pokemon that isn’t a powerhouse in battle, but isn’t downright awful either. It has an array of moves that you can learn in the games, though he’s downright useless in Pokemon GO even though he’s been used as a reward for events in the past.
What it comes down to with Spiritomb is just how uninspired the design it. The story of Spiritomb is that it is formed by 108 spirits that are trapped in something known as an Odd Keystone, but you certainly wouldn’t be able to tell that by its lackluster and poor color choice design.
4. Lickilicky
The Sinnoh region brought us a number of new evolutions for classic Kanto Pokemon like Magnezone, Electivire, Rhyperior, and more. While the rest of the bunch were really great, one really stood out as very disappointing in design with Lickilicky.
Lickitung was already a strange looking Pokemon, but it was unique for what it was. Lickilicky on the other hand just feels like a bad choice for its evolution design, making it look like someone crossed Lickitung with Blissey.
Lickilicky doesn’t even gain an additional typing or anything beyond Normal with its evolution and is also limited to evolution by evolving a Lickitung that knows Rollout.
The Pokemon does have a high HP and okay defense stats, which means many will try to use it as a tank, but there are many better options out there in the Sinnoh region to choose from.
3. Burmy
The Sinnoh region was not very kind to Bug type fans, as you will continue to see here and across the next couple spots on the list. Burmy seems like an interesting Pokemon with three forms known as Plant Cloak, Sandy Cloak, and Trash Cloak, the latter of which really should have given us a hint about this Pokemon.
You can change between the cloaks by doing different things, with these affecting which Pokemon the female Burmy evolve into, which turn into Wormadam. The male Burmy on the other hand turn into Mothim.
All of these Pokemon look absolutely terrible in design and Mothim in particular does nothing to set itself apart from previous moth Pokemon. This is not to mention that both the base form and evolutions are also pretty disappointing with their base stats as well.
2. Kricketot
The trend continues with Bug types and the Sinnoh region with Kricketot. Kricketot and its evolution Kricketune are decently designed, but nothing to write home about.
Kricketot also does not have a single move that it learns by leveling up after only coming with Growl and Bide in the original Diamond and Pearl, only starting to learn other moves after evolving. This means the grind to level 10 is going to have to rely entirely on switching out to other Pokemon.
The Pokemon’s base stats are an abysmal 194 that do not get much better when evolved to Kricketune at only 384. Needless to say, this is yet another Bug type Pokemon that you’re going to want to avoid if at all possible.
1. Combee
Who could possibly be at the top, or in this case bottom, of this list besides the Bug/Flying type Combee? This is one of Pokemon that differs in whether it’s a male or female, as only one of them can evolve, with either form only being okay at best design wise.
Only female Combee have the ability to evolve into Vespiquen, with the percentage of female Combee being only 12.5%. This means you will end up with male Combee most of the time, which are completely useless.
The male Combee cannot evolve at all and has a base stats of only 244, with no way to improve on that. In addition, the only moves that it could learn in the original Diamond and Pearl were Sweet Scent and Gust without Move Tutoring, with Bug Bite being added in with Platinum. Needless to say, Combee is well deserving of its number one spot on this list of world Sinnoh Pokemon.
