Study Reveals Top 10 Superhero Games – Where will Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Land?

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to launch for PlayStation 5 on October 20 and there is immense buzz around the long-awaited game. The recently released launch trailer only added to players’ excitement. As discussions continue, social poker platform Replay Poker has released a list of the highest-rated superhero video games of all time. The list was created by analyzing ratings from critics and gamers. The study used data collected on the sixty most popular and best-selling superhero titles with IMDB ratings, Metacritic user ratings, and Metascore to rank the top 10 superhero games ever.

Although players weren’t expecting much from the game after the disappointment with Marvel’s Avengers, Eidos-Montréal still delivered an incredible gaming experience with Guardians of the Galaxy and ultimately found its place in the top 10 superhero games with a user rating of 8.6 on Metacritic and IMDB respectively.

The game featured a morality system and fast-paced exciting combat and was released as an exclusive for PS3. The game was a massive success and kicked off a major series for the developers. inFamous secured its place in the top 10 superhero games with a Metascore of 85 and a Metacritic user rating of 8.2.

Will Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Make Its Place in the List?

Ash Keene, Operations Manager at Replay Poker, commented on the new study stating, “Despite the popularity of Disney’s MCU, Sony’s Spider-Man and Warner Bros’ Batman still dominate the video game landscape more than any other, with both characters each taking up six spots in the overall study.” He further added:

As developers Insomniac Games and Rocksteady Studios prepare to launch new gaming titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League over the coming years, it will be interesting to see if Batman: Arkham City will be dethroned as the highest-rated superhero game of all time.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 release is just a matter of a few days and seeing the hype around the game and all it brings for gamers, it is possible that Spider-Man 2 will surely make its place in this list and likely in the top 3. Players are already considering the game as a strong contender for Game of the Year and there’s no reason why Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 could not be one.
