Strange paint and platforms . . . - Trains Magazine

Maybe we are being a little too critical here. Doesn't everyone agree that its great just to see new locomotive power in old liveries again? People may not like UP for a variety of reasons, but at least they made an effort.

Actually, they are not in old liveries. I have never seen anything remotely near these paint schemes before, nor have I heard from anyone who has.

I also have to disagree that UP made an effort. That implies that UP tried to paint these locomotives in the paint schemes of these railroads but could not do so. I would be shocked if UP was not able to do this. They could have painted these locomotives in the correct paint schemes but chose not to do that. There is an old saying that is appropriate here, "If you are not going to do the job right, don't do it at all."

I think that this topic has probably set a record for the most amount of threads in so short of a time. I have found the following.

It seems ironic that Official announcement on future UP heritage units is the thread that seems to have died out since it is the only one that contains a link to UP's announcement (which dispels the myth that there will be no "DRGW" unit).
