Straight Brows Are the Biggest Brow Trend of 2023

If you were to ask Florence Pugh and Bella Hadid for the most buzzed-about brow look of the moment, they'd probably say straight brows. A glance at both celebrities' grids reveals a love affair with brows that have a lower, flatter arch.

Now Gen Z’ers are following suit. So much so that #straightbrows has racked up no fewer than 323.3 million views to date on TikTok, stealing the crown from Y2K ultra-skinny brows and putting bleached brows in the shade.

Brows famously frame the face, opening up the eye area and making you look more awake. But users claim that a straight eyebrow shape goes one step further and makes the face look more snatched and lifted thanks to the way it tapers toward your temples.

So is it time to succumb to the tweezers once again? And what are the pros and cons of straight brows?

What is a straight brow shape?

Put simply, straight brows involve shaving or plucking the tail end of your eyebrow in order to shorten the part that curves down. Bella Hadid was an early adopter, and many cite TikTok's Bella Hadid filter as inspiration for the straight-brows trend.

In terms of trying the trend, Vanita Parti, founder of Blink Brow Bar, warns against using a razor to shave away the tail end. “While the tail end recovers more quickly than the middle of the brows, the hair will grow back in different directions and be more brittle,” she says.

When crafting a straight brow, it's also important to understand that the brow hairs won't immediately grow back if you don't like the look. “Hair growth varies from person to person, subject to their lifestyle, diet and hormones,” she notes. So in some cases, it can take years to restore a poorly tweezed brow.
