Stand Up to Cancer: Ariana Grande, Katie Couric, Pierce Brosnan, and Others Pay Tribute
2. Pierce Brosnan's Tribute to His Wife and Daughter: The 61-year-old actor lost his first wife, Cassandra Harris, to ovarian cancer, and then his daughter, Charlotte Brosnan, to the same disease last year. Talking publicly about this "wretched inherited disease," he went on to add that watching "someone you love having his or her life eaten away by this insidious disease, that part of your sorrow becomes an indelible part of your psyche." Referring to himself as "a man who's watched the women he loves so much struggle with great pain," Brosnan announced that SU2C will be putting together the first ovarian cancer dream team thanks to a joint collaboration with the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, and the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
3. Ariana Grande's performance: After losing her grandfather to cancer in late July, Grande performed a beautiful rendition of her new ballad, "My Everything," for the audience inside the Dolby Theatre (home of the Academy Awards). Powerful, moving, and the perfect song for the evening.
4. Jennifer Hudson with Common and Lupe Fiasco: Talk about a rocking performance that brought the house down and delivered a powerful message: "For every time you counted me out and my back was up against the wall, I could have died, but I came out fighting." For all those fighting the battle of their lives, this song is for you.
5. This video from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: My dear friend Jim (whom some of you might remember from earlier this year when I had the Dancing With the Stars cast record video messages for him) is fighting the good fight against pancreatic cancer, and since Jim is a huge basketball fan, I figured who better than to give him a pep talk than one of the greatest? Jim, this is for you!__
