Mendez is a dedicated mother who single-handedly raised her actress daughter, Alexa Demie, and her other two children. Her daughter revealed that she grew up on a street across from a meth lab and next door to several meth addicts. Their home was also close to the Black Eyed Peas recording studio. American actor, Scott Wilson Vanerstrom, is Alexa Demie’s father. But it is not clear if Mendez and Vanerstrom were officially married. It seems Dermie followed in the footsteps of her father because Vanerstrom was a famous actor in the 80s. While Mendez’s love life regarding her first supposed marriage to the father of her first daughter remains unclear, the make-up artist later married Brandon Astudillo-Mounier. He is the father of her last two daughters. Although the date of their marriage is not known, the couple exchanged their vows in Carlsbad, California. Back in November 2016, Mendez posted a throwback photo of the two of them on their wedding anniversary on her Facebook page.
Astudillo-Mounier is a University of California, Los Angeles graduate and a former project manager at the PENTA Building Group. He was also an assistant project manager at Swinerton. The couple resides in Glendale, California.
