PlayStation fans have been left astonished after one Twitter user pointed out a hidden feature of the classic PS2 startup screen. The feature in question may have already been known by a large number of gamers, but for many, this has absolutely blown their minds.
Sony’s PlayStation 2 is now 22 years old, but still remains one of the company’s most popular consoles after selling over 155 million units, and for good reason too. With titles such as Kingdom Hearts, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Ratchet & Clank, and plenty more classics, it was a great generation to be a gamer.
Even if you sunk hundreds of hours into various PS2 titles, there may have been one hidden feature that you missed.

Twitter user Anthony has racked up a massive 71,000 likes after rediscovering a hidden feature from the PS2 startup screen.
In their viral tweet, Anthony said “just now learned that those blocks or ‘towers’ in the PS2 startup screen represent how many game save files are on your memory card, and the height of each one is determined by how much time you put into that specific game”.

There are likely many gamers out there that were already well aware of this feature, but with so many likes and almost 10,000 retweets, clearly, Anthony isn’t the only one that has just discovered this!
One fan said “is that actually true? Because holy s*** that’s amazing”, whilst another said, “they really don’t make em like they used to!”. Twitter user Argosaxelcaos summed it up perfectly though by simply saying “mind blown”.
Ngl, I always thought that those towers were were a glitch… And PS2 is what I grew up with… How did I never realize this, because thinking back on it, it seems fairly obvious with how many games were on my memory card…
