Not Elizabeth Olsen, 1 Avenger May be Key to Destroying Kang in Secret Wars

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness established Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch as a force to be reckoned with. With Wanda’s change of heart in the climax of the movie, many speculated that she will lead the war against Kang in the upcoming Avengers films. However, one Reddit theory suggests that Marvel has already positioned Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to lead the Avengers.

Holland last appeared as the web-slinger in the 2021 film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which witnessed a multiversal incursion event. The MCU Spider-Man was joined by his alternate-universe versions played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in the film.

Tom Holland Might Be Better Suited To Lead The Battle Against Kang Than Elizabeth Olsen

One Reddit user, who goes by @Handsart, has a “spoiler-filled” theory regarding which Avenger will play a crucial role in Avengers: Secret Wars. According to this theory, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will emerge as a major player in the multiversal war against Kang. In the upcoming MCU storyline, Kang is set to conquer the multiverse, eventually leading to the creation of Battleworld.

In the Secret Wars comics, Battleworld is the realm that remains after each universe is destroyed due to multiversal incursions. In this world, the only survivors from Earth-616 and Earth-1610, the former being the universe depicted in the movies. However, the incursion event wipes the memory of everyone in this world. According to the Redditor’s theory, Holland’s Peter Parker will be immune to this incursion event and the only one who remembers how things were.

The user also drew a comparison with the House of M storyline in the comics. In this narrative, Scarlet Witch and Charles Xavier create a new reality using their powers. While they intended to give the mutants their hearts’ desires, Magneto’s ill intentions complicate matters, leaving mutants unaware of how Earth used to be. In this world, Wolverine is the sole superhero who retains the memory of the entire event.

Like Wolverine, Spider-Man will remember how things were and assume a leadership role. He will probably recruit the entire Avengers team to try and fix the messed-up timelines. This theory also somewhat aligns with the Secret Wars comics, where both Peter Parker and Miles Morales play key roles.

Peter Parker Might Don The Symbiote Costume In Avengers: Secret Wars

In the Secret Wars comics, Peter Parker is one of the chosen heroes to fight the villains in the Battleworld. Thor and Hulk introduce him to an alien device that helps recreate their clothing. Spider-Man, for the first time in the comics, dons his black costume created by the alien symbiote. The living alien costume is Venom, which finds its first host in Spider-Man’s body.

While Avengers: Secret Wars may not follow the same storyline, the end credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home introduced Tom Hardy’s Venom. Eddie Brock leaves behind remains of the symbiote costume when he leaves this universe in the film, which will probably find its way to Spider-Man. It is highly probable that MCU’s Spider-Man will finally wear the black costume.
