Nigerian University dropout Mustapha Gajibo builds 12-seater electric buses, shares photos of invention

Sokoto-state-born Nigerian man, Mustapha Gajibo has shown that one can achieve great feats without acquiring a university degree.

The 29-year-old, a native of Borno state (although born in Sokoto), has joined a famous list of innovators who have produced meaningful things that makes life easier for society.

The Kanuri man and MD of Phoenix Renewables Ltd’s keen interest in renewable energy led him to build electric buses that can go over 200-kilometre before it needs recharging.

In a recent tweet, Gajibo said the 12-seater buses are 100% electric, with a 212km range on one charge at 110km/hr speed. The buses are also fully air-conditioned with a voice command system and built using 65% locally sourced materials.

The buses are already operational in Maiduguri, Borno state, and Gajibo plans to extend to other cities soon.

Mustapha Gajibo was offered admission in 2012 to study General Agricultural Science instead of Electrical Engineering which he applied for at the University of Maiduguri but switched to Mechanical Engineering when he wasn’t offered Electrical Engineering, his preferred option. Still, unfortunately, he dropped out in 300l.

However, his passion for solving problems identified in his community led to his breakthrough invention.

“I ventured into solar system installation and later to the building of electric vehicles amid my passion for solving societal challenges,” he said.

According to him, the activities of Boko-Haram in Borno state caused transportation problems, and the state capital, Maiduguri, became overcrowded.

He added that many people in the villages fled to the capital city after they couldn’t escape to neighbouring countries and the transport system became insufficient to meet the teeming population.

The electric car is not Gajibo’s only invention, as he previously utilised solar power to light up some mega schools and health facilities in Maiduguri and other towns, including Owerri, the capital of Imo state, where he built 80 kilowatt systems to power the Federal University’s e-libraries.

When Mustapha Gajibo, with over 10 workers and many casual workers under his payroll, was asked about returning to school, he said he had enrolled at the National Open University.

Leadership News gathered that Gajibo was given N20 million cash and five mini-busses after Borno state governor, Zulum heard about his exploits.

Nigerian Man Invents Stove That Cooks Without Gas Or Kerosene, Only Requires Water

Meanwhile, a Nigerian technician invented a cooking stove that doesn’t run on gas or kerosene but on water.

The 67-year-old man demonstrated how the appliance works in a video uploaded on YouTube by PR Nigeria.

The unique stove uses a combination of water and air pressure to produce fire.
