Me and My Dad achievement in The Jackbox Party Pack 6
I'm specifically writing this guide because this game's achievement is INFURIATING.
Ok, first off, here's the settings I had.:
All volumes at Max
Audience: On
Extended Timers: Off
Passworded Game: Off
Skip Tutorials: On
Require Twitch: Off
Filter US-Centric Questions: On
Post-Game Sharing: Off
No Writing/Drawing Mode: On
Start Game from Controller Only: On
Allow Room Code Hiding: Off
Max Players: 8
Subtitles: On
From my personal experience (Over 500 full games of Trivia Murder Party 2), it is near impossible to get the Gift room to appear two times in one 'session' of JPP6.
So, to get around this, after every game, COMPLETELY close the app, wait 5-10 seconds so the cache clears, and then reopen the game, going straight to TMP2, and playing with no more than ONE player (yourself). Make sure that you use a PC, instead of a phone, tablet, etc. The reason for this is that you need a mouse and keyboard for some of the rooms, e.g. Dictation.
When you are playing your first game (of the session), make sure that you get every question wrong. Doing this, I found that I had a 99% chance of getting the Gift Room (The other 1% was the hyper-rare Escape room. If you get the Escape room, you will not get the Gift room in this session).
When you get the gift room, you get to choose between 4 gifts. It is random what you'll get. You can get either Mother's Wig, Father's Hat, Grandmother's Knife, Aunt's Mirror, or Dynamite.
You want the Father's Hat. If you don't get the Father's Hat, completely close the app down, and reload it.
When you DO get the father's hat, it doesn't matter if you get answers correct or incorrect, the murderer (the host), will ALWAYS put you in the rooms to try and kill you. So ideally, before you get the gift room, you want to make sure that you don't die.
You are allowed ONE death, and you will keep the hat. If you get a second death, game over.
With drawing/writing disabled, the rooms that you will random get in random orders are as follows:
Scratch Card (16 in 21 chance of surviving)
Loser Wheel (1 in 6 chance of surviving)
Dictation (You need to be a fast typer, you'll need to correctly type either 40%, 50%, or 60% of the murderer's words correctly)
Math (You will have to answer 7, 10, or 15 sums correctly)
Rules (You will have to answer 7, 10, or 15 rules correctly).
Pegs (You'll have to survive a 'peggle-like' grid, which is a 5 out of 8 chance)
Skewers (which is a 3 x 4 grid. If you go in the 6 middle squares, you have a 3/5 chance to survive. If you go on any of three squares on each side, you have a 4/5 chance to survive)
Chalices (there will be 4 drinking implements. 2 of them will be poisoned. You have a 1 out of 2 chance of survival)
When you get to round 8, you'll be taken to the final escape. After each question, feel free to pause and google the answers. When you get to the far-right side of the screen, you'll need a perfect answer to get through the forcefield.
Take your time, get all three answers correct, and you'll FINALLY get this awful, poorly-designed achievement.
