Controversy

There were rumours that the show recorded some form of violence shortly after the success of the recently-held event dubbed The Ibadan Concert with Mayorkun, which featured artists like Davido and Perruzzi. This was most likely because of the event’s large attendance.

In an interview with Punch, the production team refuted any knowledge of any violent outbursts or assaults.

They said, despite the over 13,000 attendees, the Mayorkun’s Concert, which was generally hailed by guests as the best music concert to be staged in Ibadan, was very effectively managed with experienced security professionals in place. As a result, we would like to distance ourselves from reports of violence against specific individuals because no such thing occurred at the event. It was a free and fair event.

Mayorkun, who has a million YouTube views, has at last commented on the debate around him.

Mayorkun, who released his successful song Eleko in April 2016, amassed 1 million views on YouTube in just 10 days, which sparked the issue.

When asked about the uproar, Mayorkun responded that such a large amount of criticism was anticipated because the song was so amazing and came from a new artist.
