Man found dead after Tampa crash, police say

TAMPA, Fla. — A man is dead after a crash occurred Sunday evening in Tampa, authorities say. 

The collision occurred at 8:16 p.m. in the 1500 block of Fowler Avenue, the Tampa Police Department said in a news release. 

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the man's body, officials say. Lifesaving measures were performed, but the man ultimately died of his injuries. 

As a result of the crash, police said westbound Fowler Avenue from 19th Street to 15th Street was closed. The road has since been reopened.

The investigation of the crash remains ongoing.
