Lorde Apologizes for Posting a Bathtub Photo With Whitney Houston Lyrics

Lorde was quick to apologize for her post, though, saying she meant no disrespect by the caption and that it was a poor choice of words. “Extremely extremely poorly chosen quote,” she wrote on Instagram Stories. “I’m so sorry for offending anyone—I hadn’t even put this together I was just excited to take a bath. I’m an idiot. Love Whitney forever and ever. Sorry again.”

Many people came to Lorde's defense before she even posted an apology and said it was clear she wasn't mocking Houston with her post. "Y’all really think Lorde did that on purpose," one person wrote. "I know y’all aren’t attacking lorde for a mistake and poor choice of words when you’re on here purposely making jokes not only about whitney’s death but almost every other celebrity who has ever died," another person tweeted.
