The Hollywood heartthrob, Leonardo DiCaprio is named after famous artist Leonardo da Vinci by his mother. The actor himself claimed about this theory sharing that he got his first name, ‘Leonardo’ at the time when his mother was pregnant with him.

It happened one day when his parents went to the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy to enjoy the art when she felt him kick for the first time while looking at a da Vinci painting there.

He shared with ABC News via simplemost

“My dad, being the man that picks up on cosmic messages, said that ‘His name must be Leonardo.’”

He eventually gained worldwide love and support just like the artist with his spectacular acting career. His association with the famous scholar was unraveled after he was announced to play the latter in a biopic film.

Back in 2017, reports confirmed that the Titanic fame would play the Renaissance artist’s role in an adaptation of Walter Isaacson‘s book on Leonardo da Vinci. It was reported that Paramount and Universal were in an intense seven-figure bidding war for the rights to Issacson’s book which the former studio eventually ended up winning.

DiCaprio’s company, Appian Way Productions would produce the movie. Former Paramount CEO, Brad Grey via Deadline expressed his delight to work with the actor’s production company after they got a first-look deal.

“Leo is one of the great talents of our time,” said Grey. “He is a masterful actor, storyteller, and producer, with impeccable taste and skill that has shaped his extraordinary career…We are both proud and excited to grow our relationships with him, Rick Yorn, Jennifer Davisson, and the entire team at Appian Way.”

While the project was much in talks at the time, there has been no news of the same since then. Meanwhile, he is set to return on the big screen with his new flick, Killers of the Flower Moon which also stars Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, John Lithgow, and Brendan Fraser.

Directed by Martin Scorsese, the movie is set in 1920s Oklahoma, sharing the real-life story of a series of murders of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation. It is set to release on October 20th.
