Latest recall for blood pressure meds includes Irbesartan tablets

(WTHR) — More medication is being recalled after detecting a cancer-causing chemical in the tablets.

Prinstone Pharmaceutical has issued a voluntary recall for one lot of Irbesartan tablets and sevent lots of irbesartan HCTZ tablets due to finding trace amounts of NDEA — a known carnicogen — in them.

This is just the latest in dozens of recalls that have been issued for similar reasons.

To see the entire list of Irbesartan products in this recall, click here. All of the products included have expirations dates in February or March 2021. They were distributed between July and August of 2018.

Patients on the affected medications should continue to take them until consulting with a doctor or pharmacist about other options.
