Katy Tiz on Her New Music Video for Whistle (While You Work It)

British pop singer-songwriter Katy Tiz first gained notice when her cover of "The Big Bang" debuted on the* Billboard* Hot 100—since then she's been gearing up for a huge year ahead, working on her debut album, playing shows across the country, and releasing her latest single, "Whistle (While You Work It)," which is sure to be on everyone's summer playlists. We caught up with her at Glamour HQ to talk about it all. Read on!

So tell me about the upcoming album.

Katy Tiz: So, we just finished the album. I'm in a great position now because all the work's done, so it's the fun part. Being in the studio is great, but I'm way too sociable, so I like being out and about. I'm like a puppy. [Laughs]

This will be your debut album. What was it like creating it?

__Katy:It's kind of reggae-influenced, but it is essentially pop music. It's a real piece of me, and it's really from the heart. It's probably the first time I've actually been really honest for…how long is an album? An hour, an hour and a half? It's an hour and a half of pure honesty, which I'm proud of. It's taken a while, and I think it deserves to be in the position it is now. I'm really happy with it. The first single, "Whistle (While You Work It)," is a good representation of how the rest of the album pans out. I was really shocked with how much I loved the video for it. It was the first video I wrote the treatment for too, so I was certainly nervous about the pressure of…you know, I don't want to get it wrong. I'm not a video director. Being on set was amazing to see something I've actually written come to be. It's different with music—when you actually, physically see something that you've written out on my iPhone notes come to life, I was mind-blown.
