Incident Details
Jayden Jensen went missing on Dec. 6 around 1 p.m. while trying to retrieve a duck he shot during a hunting trip with friends.
The incident occurred near McTucker Ponds and the American Falls Reservoir, presenting challenges due to rough terrain.
Search Challenges in Rough Terrain
Emergency crews are conducting searches in both the Snake River and the reservoir.
The growing ice shelf on the reservoir complicates efforts, with icy ramps hindering boat launches.
The Bingham County Search and Rescue crew utilizes the Tilden access point and travels the reservoir banks when possible.
Coordinated Search Efforts
To coordinate search efforts, the Facebook page “Bringing Jayden Home” and a command post at the Willow Bay Marina were established on Dec. 13.
All volunteers are required to check in and out at the command post for assignment grids and equipment. Safety rules are in place to ensure searchers’ well-being.
Equipment and Resources Deployed
Various resources are employed in the search, including boats, drones, ATV’s, small airplanes, and a helicopter.
The Diesel Brothers brought an ice-breaking catamaran boat, and an Oregon-based dive team has joined them.
Coordination efforts involve walkers, ATV operators, and drone operators to cover potential points of interest.
Search Shifts to Recovery Mission
After nearly two weeks of searching, efforts are transitioning from rescue to recovery due to the extended duration of Jayden’s absence.
Weather-dependent searches will continue as conditions allow.
Father’s Gratitude and Community Support
Jayden’s father, Shawn Jensen, expressed gratitude on Facebook, acknowledging the community‘s support in the challenging search.
He thanked everyone involved and requested continued prayers for his family and those contributing to the search efforts.
