Jay Z’s mum weds longtime lesbian lover

Gloria Carter, the mother of American rap entrepreneur Shawn Corey Carter, better known as Jay-Z, has married longtime lover Roxanne Wilshire.

The pair got married in Tribeca, New York, United States, on Sunday.

Gloria and Roxanne entered the Manhattan venue with Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, and the singer’s cousin Angie, while Julius, her trusty bodyguard, cleared the way.

Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Tyler Perry were among those who attended the star-studded wedding and reception, TMZ reports.

Jay-Z rapped about his mother’s coming out to him in Smile, a track off his 2017 album 4:44.

“Mama has four children, but she is a lesbian.

“She’s had to pretend for a long time that she’s a thespian/She had to hide in the closet to medicate/The shame of society and the anguish were too much to bear.

“I shed happy tears when you fell in love/I don’t care if it’s a he or a she/I just want to see you smile through all the hate/Marie Antoinette, baby, let ’em eat cake,” he rapped.
