James Dean museum to remain open

Fairmont, Jan. 23 - A museum chronicling the short life of actor James Dean was slated to close, but plans have changed and it's staying open.

The owner of the James Dean Gallery says he's received an outpouring of support and money since he announced plans last month to close the facility.

The museum and gift shop opened in 1988 in a house near downtown Fairmont, where Dean attended high school. The gallery was moved after an electrical fire in early 2004 to I-69 and Indiana 22.
