“I could barely get through it”: Bradley Cooper’s Potential Oscar Winning Maestro Fails to Impress Former View Co-Host Who Slams His Controversial Role

Bradley Cooper’s recently released 2023 film Maestro is one of the best examples of modern art. With a complicated love life between music composer Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre, the film revolved around music, love, and more subjective themes.

Maestro is one of those movies that are difficult to understand. Having an artistic vision and getting nominated for Golden Globe Awards, former The View co-star Meghan McCain is not at all impressed with Bradley Cooper’s film.

Meghan McCain Regretted Watching Bradley Cooper’s Maestro!

Maestro, starring Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan, is quite a debatable movie. Much like modern art, the strokes of color and music are confusing to some and enchanting to others. Depicting the complicated love life between composer Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre, Maestro was indeed something out of the ordinary, but people weren’t able to comprehend.

Former co-host of The View, Meghan McCain, had no hopes for the movie, and yet she regretted her decision to watch the film. Stating that the film was a complete waste of time for her, McCain totally seemed to hate Bradley Cooper as she also asked how all the Oscar-worthy movies were like this in her post on X (formerly Twitter)!

“Watched Maestro last night and….I could barely get through it. I’m frustrated I wasted what little free time I have open at night (with 2 young kids) watching it. Why are so many Oscar buzz movies like this and so disappointing? Who are these movies for?”

Several people tried to explain McCain by stating that this was “meant as an ‘artistic movie’ for the Hollywood Elite,” and that there was no focus on audience entertainment while others supported her words. Although Meghan McCain had some harsh words, the conclusion came that Maestro is a brilliant movie that seemed to enlighten people about the world of music and love.

Cooper wanted accuracy and perfectionism in his movie, and therefore, he had some special conditions while shooting Maestro. In an interview with Newsweek, producer Kristie Macosko Krieger talked about how Cooper wanted to shoot in the actual locations.

Bradley didn’t make it an easy situation for us. He wanted to shoot the movie in the hallowed halls where Lenny and Felicia lived their lives. So he wanted to shoot a tango, he wanted to shoot at Carnegie Hall. He wanted to shoot in Ely Cathedral, he wanted to shoot at The Plaza, he wanted to shoot in Central Park.”

He further continued,

He wanted to shoot in the Dakota, but we couldn’t shoot in the Dakota, so we had to build the Dakota to look exactly like their apartment did. And so making [Maestro] in the real spaces, he wanted to shoot live music, he wanted to shoot on film. These are all things that were non-negotiable for him.”

With a rating of 6.8/10 on IMDB and a critic’s rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, Maestro is indeed one of those movies that are difficult to understand. Starring Bradley Cooper in the lead role, the 2023 masterpiece is available to stream on Netflix around the world.
