Harley-Davidson billboard gets attention for curse word

A Harley-Davidson billboard in Virginia is turning a lot of heads for its choice of language.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WTHR) - A Harley-Davidson billboard in Virginia is turning a lot of heads for its choice of language.

The sign for the Bayside Harley-Davidson store in Portsmouth features foul language and people aren't too happy about it.

"Leave all the bull---- in the wind behind you," the sign reads.

Portsmouth City Councilman Bill Moody said he's been getting complaints due to the curse word on the billboard, but said the word is protected by the First Amendment. Store General Manager Shawn Robinson said they've received calls, too, both good and bad. He said he doesn't understand the negative chatter, but is glad the sign is getting noticed.

"We just thought it was really a great explanation of how it feels to ride, you know, wind in your hair and, you know, everything in the daily grind behind you," Robinson said. "There's so many other things in society to worry about than the sign, you know, but we didn't mean to offend anybody."

Robinson said the sign will stay up through the end of the year.
