Guide for Top Spin 2
Exhibition matches (1-2 hours)
First we will start with the Exhibition matches. You need to play and beat all 24 of the licensed players in Exhibition matches to gain 3 achievements. There are 12 male players and 12 female players you need to beat to get these achievements.
From the main menu you want to go to Exhibition and you can choose either Singles or Doubles. Selecting Singles means this achievement will take you a minimum of 24 matches. Doubles will mean a minimum of 12, so I highly recommend choosing the Doubles option.
Select a side and then go to change players, now change your player to Federer to make this easier for yourself and if you have decided to play Doubles, choose Roddick as your partner. Now just change your opponent(s) each match and keep a list of who you have beaten or need to beat. Once you have selected your opponents go to change settings and change games per set to 2 and sets per match to 1. Also select Easy difficulty.
Now you can play the match and win, just repeat these step until you have beaten all 24 licensed players.
A list of all the players are in the table below:
Male Players | Female Players |
| Federer | Davenport |
| Hewitt | Sharapova |
| Roddick | Mauresmo |
| Coria | Williams |
| Henman | Myskina |
| Moya | Molik |
| Haas | Kuvnetsova |
| Mirnyi | Dementieva |
| Blake | Sugiyama |
| Evans | Haynes |
| Kuznetsov | Jackson |
| Grosjean | Morariu |
After you have beaten your first match you will unlock the following achievement:
After you have won a match against all female licensed Top Spin players you will unlock the following achievement:
After you have won a match against all male licensed Top Spin players you will unlock the following achievement:
Career Mode (20-40 hours)
The most time consuming achievement in the game will be earned in Career Mode. The achievement is for winning 1000 points in 1 career. You will mainly be working towards this whilst picking up all the other Career achievements along the way.
Career mode is 5 seasons long and you need to finish all 5 seasons to gain all the achievements. For Career mode you will need to train your pro for the first 2 seasons and occasionally play in Minors and Majors for these 2 years, The third year you should start playing in the Masters as well as the Minors and Majors. Occasionally you will play in a few Grand Slams and you should continue training when you choose not to do a Grand Slam until you have gained all Bronze stars. From there on just play in the tournaments every week.
You can choose being a male or female player, personally I think being female is easier as the opponents do not seem quite as tough.
If you need a win but you end up losing you can exit to the dashboard before it saves and you will be put back to the beginning of the week you were on. Or if you saved after a round in a tournament you will continue from there. With this in mind I would recommend saving regularly just in case you need to reload a save.
You can simulate matches in tournaments but you will usually lose until you have reached #1 and gained all the bronze, silver and gold stars. Having said that, even then you will still lose against people ranked #150+ so I suggest you save after every match you play if you are using this tactic. You can also simulate in matches, at the beginning of every game you can simulate a game or a set. It is best to never simulate sets, just games, so if you can see you’re losing you can play for yourself until you are winning again.
You can only find out how many career points you have at the end of each season. The achievement for winning 1000 points will take around 3-4 seasons of Career mode so there is not much point obsessively checking every season until that point. Once you have got to the 1000 point threshold and earned the achievement you can simulate the rest of your career if you like. I would advise either earning all the other career achievements first though, or make a backup of your save file so you can go back and mop up any Career achievements you missed after popping the 1000 points achievement.
After your first win in Career mode you will unlock the following achievement;
After you win your first tournament you will unlock the following achievement;
After you reach #1 in the world you will unlock the following achievement;
After you complete your 5th season in career you will unlock the following achievement;
Finally, after you have earned 1,000 points in career and completed your 5th season in career you will unlock the following achievement:
Career Mode is now complete!
Online (1-2 hours)
For the online section you will now most likely need a boosting partner so I would advise setting up a session on this site to find someone. Both of you will need to win 25 ranked matches each so that you both get all 3 achievements.
Once your ranked game loads you can just quit out and this will count as a win for the person who did not quit. You can use this tactic to make the Online section go extremely quick.
Also bear in mind the 50 games played achievement can be a little buggy and may take a few more than 50 games before it pops.
After winning your first ranked match you will unlock the following achievement:
After winning 25 ranked matches you will unlock the following achievement:
After playing 50 ranked matches you will unlock the following achievement:
And that's it! Congratulations, you should now have 1000G and the completion!
