Guide for Slime Rancher - General hints and tips
Slime Rancher is a lovely game that was initially released through Games with Gold in 2017. You play as Beatrix LeBeau (aka Bea). The aim of this game is to wrangle slimes at the Far, Far Ranch on an unnamed alien planet. These slimes, when fed foods that match their diet, produce plorts, which you then collect and sell off for NewBucks, the currency used in the game. While you explore the planet and each of the areas upon it, you will find more and more slimes, plants and animals. As you discover new creatures and places, you will fill your Slimepedia.
At the time of writing this, there are no missable achievements in this game. Many of the achievements are relatively simple and the more areas you unlock, the more that become available to unlock. Some are cumulative and require a bit of running around to get all the items you need, but I'll guide you through all that. Slime Rancher will probably take you somewhere from 25-35 hours to complete, more if any DLC is added (some of which is planned as far as I am aware). Note that the achievements are linked to the game itself, not a certain save game, so all the achievements can be collected over multiple saves.
There are currently three different modes that you can play, Adventure, Casual and Rush. Most achievements can be earned in any mode, however there are three achievements specific to Rush, and in casual, the "enemies" of the game, known as the Tarr, aren't present and so you cannot earn the two achievements related to them in this mode.
I'll start the Adventure mode for all the achievements then move onto 5 Day Rush at the end of the guide.
Note:At one point, I started a new save on the Rush mode. After completing that and getting all the achievements for that mode, I went back to my initial adventure save, only to find that all the slimes that I had previously collected had disappeared. I was just left with a ranch full of empty corrals. I didn't lose any progress in the slimepedia, and was still able to access any areas that I had already unlocked. I suggest that you do the Rush once you have collected the other achievements, or if you don't mind running around and recollecting any slimes you had.
Also, this game only requires playthrough of the story and one playthrough of Rush mode in order to be completed.
Right, lets get started with the guide!
