Guide for Sea of Thieves

Tomes were added as part of the Ashen update. There are four types of Tomes: Tomes of curses, Tomes for Fire, Tomes of Power and Tomes of Resurrection. There are 24 achievements total within this update.

To acquire these Tomes, you will have to get your hands on an Ashen chest. A chest can be acquired in many ways, these include:

• Buying an Ashen Chest Stash from Larinna at any outpost for 50 Doubloons. (Unlimited but can become costly)
• After completing a Skeleton fleet. (A world event shaped as a boat)
• Potential spawn after killing a Megalodon or Kraken. (Randomly spawns between islands)
• Potential spawn after killing any AI ship. (Randomly spawns but you may find one roaming around)
• Potential Spawn after defeating any Ashen winds world event. (The red tornado that occasionally spawns)

This is what the chests look like:

Once you’ve got your hands on one of these fancy chests, chances are that you will need a key. Keys do not come alongside the chests, unless you obtain one from defeating the Ashen winds.

The only way to acquire keys are:

• Buying an Ashen Key Stash Voyage from Larinna at any outpost for 99 Doubloons. (Unlimited but expensive)
• Ashen Key masters on islands or during a world event fort. (Special skeletons that have red glow)
• Potentially caught on your fishing rod as plunderous loot. (Caught anywhere but very randomised)

Once you’ve got an Ashen chest, there are possibilities that you could get other things. This achievement is very randomised and may take a while to get all of the Tomes you need. You can sell these Tomes along with the chest to either Larinna or Reaper, although Reaper does give more for them.
