Guide for Final Fantasy IX
Tetra Master Card Game
The card game can start as soon as you have your first 5 tetra master cards. I recommend that you first rack up some cards by playing the game and start this later. But it is totally up to you when or where you start this.
You have to beat a total of 100 unique players throughout the world of Final Fantasy IX. There are more than 100 opponents in the game, so feel free to play as much as you like.
There are three achievements that stick to the card game
How does the game work?
You have to chose 5 cards from your card deck. There are 100 different cards in the game. Every card has the same layout. There is a picture of the card, some arrows, from zero to eight, and a number/letter value.
The arrows show in which direction you can attack another card.
The number/letter value is your power stat, Battle class stat, Physical defense stat, and Magical defense stat.
Every card has four values. The bigger, the better.
- The first value is for theattack powerof the card. 0 means the card has an HP value of 0-15 an F means an HP value of 240-255
- The second value is for thebattle classof the card. P, M, X or A
- The third value is for thephysical defenseof the card. Also here, 0 means the card has an HP value of 0-15 an F means an HP value of 240-255
- The fourth value is for themagical defenseof the card. Again, 0 means the card has an HP value of 0-15 an F means an HP value of 240-255
| Value | Min | Max | Value | Min | Max |
| 0 | 000 | 015 | 8 | 128 | 143 |
| 1 | 016 | 031 | 9 | 144 | 159 |
| 2 | 032 | 047 | A | 160 | 175 |
| 3 | 048 | 063 | B | 176 | 191 |
| 4 | 064 | 079 | C | 192 | 207 |
| 5 | 080 | 095 | D | 208 | 223 |
| 6 | 096 | 111 | E | 224 | 239 |
| 7 | 112 | 127 | F | 240 | 255 |
Each of the stats for power, physical defense, and magical defense increase on a hexadecimal scale, with 0 being the weakest and F being the strongest. Check the possible values in the table above.
The battle class of a card determines how it fights other cards when attacking. This can be one of four values - P, M, X, and A.
- P stands for physical. This combats the defender's physical defense.
- M stands for magical. This combats the defender's magical defense.
- X is flexible. This pairs the power of the attacking card against the weakest of the defending card's defenses.
- A is assault. This is the best battle class as it pairs the highest stat on the attacking card with the lowest class on the defending card.
Theoretically, the best card value will be F A F F. With an arrow on all 4 sides and corners.
If one of your card arrows hit another card's arrow of a resting card on the field you start a battle.
There are four types of attacks.
Physical Battle
If the challenging card has a battle class stat of P (physical), the attack value of this card challenges the physical defense of the resting card.
For example, you attack with a card 5P77. The resting card has the values 2M22. Your attack is a value between 80 and 95, the defender value is between 32 and 74. The attacker card would be a favorite to capture the resting card.
Magical Battle
If the challenging card has a battle class stat of M (magical), the attack value of this card challenges the magical defense of the resting card.
For example, you attack with a card 8M34. The resting card has the values 4P10. Your attack is a value between 128 and 143, the defender value is between 0 and 15. The attacker card would be a favorite to capture the resting card.
Flexible Battle
If the challenging card has a battle class stat of X (flexible), the attack value of this card challenges the weaker of the two defenses of the resting card.
For example, you attack with a card AX33. The resting card has the values 2MA0. Your attack is a value between 160 and 175, the defender value is between 0 and 15 because the lower value is 0. The attacker card would definitely win.
Assault Battle
If the challenging card has a battle class stat of A (assault), the strongest value of this card challenges the weakest of the resting card.
For example, you attack with a card FA00. The resting card has the values BMA5. Your attack is a value between 240 and 255 because F is the strongest value of the attack, the defender value is between 80 and 95 because the lowest value of the resting card is 5. The attacker card would definitely win.
With all said done you should be ready to battle. Here is a list of Opponents you can fight against at Endgame.
1) There are two Red Mages and Hippaul at the end of the game as soon as you enter the Inn.
Hippaul leaves the Inn, the two red mages stay there until you leave the Inn in any direction.
This is a "one-time" chance.
