Granger Smith breaks social media silence after son's drowning death
GEORGETOWN, Texas (WTHR) — Country music singer Granger Smith is breaking his silence after his son, River, tragically drowned and died.
He posted to Instagram, saying he felt "responsibility" as a public figure to use his platform and include his fans in the tough journey he's facing.
Smith said since his son's death his family has united stronger and closer than ever before. They've cried, smiled and held each other tight. He said he's no longer searching for answers, but he knows River was only meant to be on Earth for exactly as long as he was.
"River's assignment on earth was always intended for 1116 days and not only did he live it to the fullest, but he lived it loved by so many," Smith wrote.
He also made a YouTube video with his wife, Amber, so fans could hear from them, and not just read the words.
The couple thanked the everyone who has wished them well and left comments on their social media pages.
"We've seen all of your comments and we're getting all of your letters, and we're receiving the outpouring of love that you guys have given us these last couple of weeks," Amber said. "We just wanted to say thank you."
