Grace Kelly's 1956 Hideaway: Castle Hill Inn in Newport, R.I.

While filming High Society in the summer of 1956, Grace Kelly spent downtime between her scenes at the Castle Hill Inn in Newport, Rhode Island.

I spent this past weekend at Castle Hill—at the Newport stop on the Volvo Ocean Race, where teams of sailors (including the sole all-women's SCA team) race around the world. In off hours, when we weren't at race village checking out the amazing boats, I was at the inn, where I noticed a craggy rock beach that had its own dedicated staircase. Turns out, the stairs were built specially for Grace Kelly in the mid-20th-century.
