Rivver Cooper Death - Motorcyclist Involved in Tragic Accident Passes Away Days Later

On August 2nd, 2023, a fatal motorcycle accident occurred in Cumberland County that has now resulted in the death of the motorcyclist involved, identified as Rivver Cooper of Shippensburg. According to coroner Pamela Gay of York County, Cooper was pronounced dead at 2:28 PM at Wellspan York Hospital on Wednesday, August 7th, five days after the initial accident took place.

The coroner determined that Cooper's death was the result of blunt force trauma injuries to the brain stemming from the motorcycle collision. On the afternoon of August 2nd around 12:48 PM, Cooper was involved in a solo motorcycle crash on Furnace Hollow and Gutshall Roads in Southampton Township of Cumberland County. Police reports indicate that he sustained ultimately fatal injuries when he collided with a tree along the roadway. At the time, Cooper was wearing a protective helmet.

Coroner Gay shared that a routine toxicology was obtained but no autopsy was performed on Cooper's body. The ongoing investigation into the incident is being handled by Pennsylvania State Police based out of the Carlisle barracks.

On the day of the accident, Rivver Cooper was riding his motorcycle eastbound on Furnace Hollow Road. For an unknown reason near the intersection of Gutshall Road, Cooper lost control of his bike and veered off the roadway. His motorcycle collided with a tree beside the road, ejecting Cooper from the vehicle.

After the solo accident occurred, Cooper likely lay injured and immobile alongside the rural roadway for some period of time. The crash was not witnessed nor was Cooper's absence quickly noted. It is believed he was finally discovered up to 5 days later on August 7th when he was transported to York Hospital and pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
