Episode of Savanaclaw taking a break

As per the May issue of Square Enix’s Monthly G Fantasy magazine, Suzuka Oda’s Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Comic: Episode of Savanclaw will be taking a break. The manga adaptation is set to return in the magazine’s August issue on July 18. Once it returns, the manga will get new chapters each month.

Oda launched the manga in Monthly G Fantasy in December 2022. Square Enix will release the manga’s first compiled book volume on July 27. Oda drew the manga adaptation of Manabu Kaminaga’s Psychic Detective Yakumo novel series from 2014 to 2016.

Oda is also behind the manga adaptation of author NisiOisin’s Bishonen Tanteidan manga series. The English version of the manga is released by Kodansha USA Publishing.

The storyline of the new manga

As the previous Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Comic: Episode of Heartslabyul manga centered on the Hearslabyul dormitory in the story, the new manga emphasizes on the students of the Savanaclaw dormitory.

Wakana Hazuki and Sumire Kowono released the Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Comic: Episode of Heartslabyul manga in Monthly G Fantasy in March 2021, and it ended in October 2022. The manga’s fourth and final volume shipped in December 2022.

The franchise previously had a manga anthology volume with stories from various writers, which shipped in November 2020. The second manga anthology came out in April 2021. the game was launched in Japan in March 2020, and launched in the US and Canada in January 2022 for iOS and Android devices.

Black Butler manga creator Yana Toboso was in charge for the main concept of the game. He also took care of scenarios and character designs. TROYCA did the animation for the game’s opening movie, and Noght Ravels performed the opening theme song, “Piece of my world.”

The game focuses on characters inspired by villains from Disney movies, and is described as a “villains academy adventure game” that has rhythm game elements and battles.

Sega to takeover Angry Birds developer Rovio Entertainment Oyj

Sega has announced that it will soon be taking over the Finland-based Rovio Entertainment Oyj mobile game firm. The move will be made through its subsidiary Sega Europe Limited and Sega Sammy Holdings. Rovio is valued at EUR706 million and the acquisition will be a friendly takeover. Rovio’s board of directors has agreed to and shown their support for the offer.

Rovio developed the Angry Birds mobile game and licensed the brand as consumer products, films, and animations, which features 2016 The Angry Birds Movie and its sequel that came out in 2019.

With the acquisition, Sega aims to boost its growth in the global gaming market by using Rovio’s expertise in the service mobile game operation. Sega will especially benefit from Rovio’s Beacon platform, which will rapidly expand both firms’ fanbase by sharing know-how regarding multi-media expansion of global characters; and backing cross-platform expansion of Rovio’s IP using Sega’s capabilities.
