Elliot's Trackside Diner..DECEMBER, 2013!!! - Model Railroader Magazine

Good Afternoon, Janie - I’ll have a BLT with some of those potato skins (with the bacon and cheese, please), and a  Rio Grande  mug of hot chocolate, and a RBF a bit later for my dessert. Thanks!

Jeff, I was wondering about your Wal-Mart trip yesterday when you first mentioned it (“Hmm, I wonder if he'll overdo, and try to walk too much, instead of getting a cart inside WallyWorld?”). Glad that your wiser self prevailed. Smile, Wink & Grin Sounds like the Gold Bond will be very helpful as you get adjusted to the new leg. Thumbs Up I was wondering about that black Apple - was that all as originally built (//e labels, white keyboard, etc.?). I knew about the Bell & Howell Apple IIe (or was it a II?), but never saw photos of the original ones to see if they said Apple or B&H on them. Looks a bit unusual, for sure. And I like your sense of humor about the train sets in those two rooms...Laugh

Johnboy, great to see you posting in here again! Keep at it, and as many have said, we’re pulling for ya! AngelAngel

And for you as well, Ulrich! Get rested up (so you can get by Herr Arztpraxis), please.

Ray, I would concur that your blacksmith’s building is coming along great! That ‘stonew**k’ is the kind I’ve thought about making some (more Southwestern-styled) ‘stone’ buildings, but I was thinking of casting the walls with a thin coat of PofP in a plastic jig, and then set stones (W-S talus, mostly) in the plaster while it was still kinda wet. I’ll have to go back and find your posts when you started your blacksmith shop to see what all you did/used...

Galaxy, with the weather up your (and Ray’s) direction, I’m sure Hawaii did sound pretty good (even at 67 F)! And shame on you, using the ‘S’ word in the Diner! Whistling But hey, every guy has his limits - we can only take so much of that white stuff, right? Smile, Wink & Grin When I read your morning post today (about 'new material'), I was thinking “He almost sounds like a comedian there...”

Garry, hope you didn’t get much of that icy part of the storm that had moved through a few days ago. I’m hoping it will warm up nicely in the next few days so the remaining ice/packed sn*w in our parking lot will be gone soon. Yeah

Mr. B, you’re down with w**k for this year? I think I’m jealous! I’ve cut the shellfish from my diet (bad effect on my cholesterol level, which I want/need to keep down). But baked/broiled fish (salmon, etc.), THAT is still on my diet (love it!).

Todd, are you hoping for the usual thing when somebody buys/gets out a sn*wblower (that that means you won’t have any need for it...)? Sounds like Brenda hasn’t got on board with that idea that you don’t buy much of any presents for yourself when Christmas is coming (for the very reason you mentioned on the Godzilla video pack). If I get anything, I make sure it isn’t something I may have mentioned to my daughter, and/or I only get something that I never have said anything about, and that it is not at all like **anything** on my gift list I gave them this year (or the year before...).  At least you figured how to get out of that shopping club place... Smile, Wink & Grin Hey, are you far enough north to catch some of the winter storms coming across/northeasterly, after they dump the white stuff in the St. Louis area?

CN Charlie - I’d say that whichever temp scale you use, that’s just COLD up there!!! Bet you even have to wear your light jacket on days like that, eh? Wink And it might be a little while before I get up there to visit you in January, though...Whistling

Rob, good to see you again in here. How’s your weather been there? I think you may have missed the white stuff and ice, but figured ya coulda got a good soaking from the storm last week. Critters doing okay? And how is the re-doing of the layout(s) coming along?

Here's a photo of my (decorated) Christmas tree - as I said yesterday when I was in the Diner, I still have my stocking(s) and a few smaller decorations to put up around the apartment.

Can't get the image linking (here, or on Photobucket) to work properly. Bang HeadSigh Mutter, mutter frazengratle...Bang Head

There's a Christmas concert I'm going to tonight at church (free), so that should be good. And this morning was the annual kids' Christmas program. Typical - funny, various little things (one kid couldn't figure how to turn on the microphone's on/off switch), and the littlest kids were the "cattle" in the manger, with 'cow' caps that had spots and horns painted on them. I was thinking the local Chick-Fil-A manager should've been there! Laugh

Welp, my food's here, so I'll be at the RC a bit. Dinner Do keep on taking care of yourselves (and loved ones), and best wishes if your shopping isn't done (mine isn't...).

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape G.
