Elden Ring Irina and Edgar Questline Ending Explained

Here’s what happens in the ending of the Irina and Edgar questline of Elden Ring, and whether there are alternate endings or not. Needless to say this guide contains spoilers for the quest.

Elden Ring is the latest game by FromSoftware, directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. Just like in Demon’s Souls, the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne and Sekiro, the game has its fair share of tragedies, and the Irina and Edgar questline is sadly one of them.

Irina and Edgar questline ending explained

When you go deliver Irina’s letter to Edgar, even if you already have the Grafted Blade Greatsword on you and you equip it, Edgar will go through the same dialogues. Telling you he cannot leave his post.

After that, as you go back to Irina, it turns out she has been killed. When you report back to Edgar, he will end up leaving Castle Morne and going to Erina’s body, vowing to get revenge on those who killed her. Lastly, you can end up fighting Edgard as an Invader called Edgar the Revenger if you visit the Revenger’s Shack.

Can you save Irina in Elden Ring?

As I explained above, even if you end up getting the Grafted Blade Greatsword before talking with Edgar, Irina’s fate cannot be changed. At the very least I haven’t heard of a single player who managed to save her yet. So she sadly can’t be saved, and that’s one of the many sad and depressing stories you’ll encounter in Souls games and Elden Ring.

Be it the way its open-world is built, or how some bosses reuses patterns form past games, Elden Ring can be considered the climax of everything FromSoftware has done up until now. Players all around the world are enjoying the game despite its difficult launch on PC and Xbox.
