Dying Light 2 adds custom maps with free Summertime Update on Xbox

If you've grown weary after running 960km around the streets of The City in an attempt to polish off the Dying Light 2 achievements and would like a change of scenery, the free Summertime Update has you covered with Mod.io In-Game Console Integration, which adds custom maps created by the Dying Light 2 community.

Dying Light 2 gets Payday 2 crossover event

While the Summertime Update packs in a host of bug fixes, balancing tweaks, quality-of-life improvements, and new knife animations, its crowning jewel is the addition of community-created maps. Techland partnered with mod.io last year to add the feature to Dying Light 2 on PC and it seems to have been a success, so now you can access the content on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One as well. You'll find the Community Maps tab in the game's main menu, where you'll be able to pick where you'd like to slaughter the infected next.

Additionally, changes have been made to the game's Brutality level, which now includes even more gore, but also comes with a new setting so you can choose how much of the good stuff you see. You have options for full, limited, and minimum gore, which is great if you're a bit squeamish, but less gore also reduces the load on your system which is great for streamers and content creators too. On top of that, a new modifier called "Alterations," will now introduce short-time activities to the world for a bit of extra fun.

If you plan on jumping into Dying Light 2 to check out the new Summertime Update content, you could unlock some fancy rewards thanks to the new Payday 2 crossover event. The event runs until September 21 and fills the streets and Dark Hollows with Infected Robbers loaded with the new Red Diamonds. Collecting these will help you reach your event goals.

Speaking of event rewards, Techland has introduced a new premium currency called Dying Light Points, which can be spent on skin bundles from the in-game store. You'll need to spend real-world money to purchase the Dying Light Points, much like any other premium in-game currency, but all players who log into the game before October 7 will be given 500 "DL Points" as a bonus.

Following its delay earlier this year, Techland is yet to give us any juicy details about the new Dying Light 2 expansion, but you can be sure that we'll let you know once word is out.
