Death investigation underway on Indy's southwest side
Police found the man in the 3300 block of Collier Street, near Kentucky Avenue and Mann Road, around 4 p.m. Monday.
INDIANAPOLIS — A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found dead Monday afternoon on the southwest side of Indianapolis.
Police said they responded to a report of a person down in the 3300 block of Collier Street, near Kentucky Avenue and Mann Road, around 4 p.m. Jan. 29.
Medics pronounced the male victim dead on the scene, and police said he appeared to have suffered from some type of trauma.
"We haven't confirmed yet if this person was shot," IMPD Ofc. William Young said. "That will come out as the investigation continues."
Tuesday morning, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 31-year-old Brian Anthony Hendricks and ruled his death a homicide. A cause of death has not yet been determined.
Police say while they found Hendricks inside the home, they are also investigating who owns the house.
"It does have boards around the home. We are trying to explore who owns the home, there's family," Young said.
There is no information at this time about a possible motive or suspect in Hendricks' death.
