Countess Luann de Lesseps Doesn't Care If You Think She's Too Old for a Bikini

Another day another woman having to defend her right to exist in and present her body however she damn well pleases. Today it's Countess Luann de Lesseps, cabaret performer and Real Housewives of New York star, who found herself on the receiving end of ageist comments after she dared to post pictures of herself wearing a bikini.

Over the weekend, de Lesseps posted a couple pictures of herself posing in a pink and white gingham two-piece in her hotel room, writing, “What’s cooking? 😎 @chateaumarmont.” Is the blazer-bikini combo a little much? Maybe. Is holding your freezer door slightly ajar kind of a weird pose? I suppose. But other than that, this is…a pretty par for the course kind of thing to see on Instagram!

And while she got many positive comments from friends, sadly, not everyone could deal with an adult, you know, existing. For every “Damn! You make getting older look flawless. 👏👏👏👏” comment there was also a “Oh jeez. So not necessary.” Since when is “necessary” the bar here? But I digress.

The star responded to the negativity in a follow-up post on Tuesday, April 25, singling out a comment that said “way too old boo!!!!!!!” and saying, “I'm proud of the fact that I can still rock a bikini at this age. Women should be able to wear whatever they want at any age as long as they feel good,” adding one of her more quoted lines from RHONY, “so be cool, don't be like, all uncool.”
