Dan Evans vs Grigor Dimitrov: Preview
Dan Evans has been in pretty good form in Washington this week. He defeated Gregoire Barrere in three sets in the first round, after coming back from a set down. The ninth seed later defeated Alexander Shevchenko in the second round in straight sets, before scoring a surprise victory over Frances Tiafoe in the quarterfinals.
Grigor Dimitrov defeated Mackenzie McDonald in the first round in straight sets, before getting past Emil Ruusuvuori again in straight sets. The Bulgarian received a walkover in the quarterfinals, as the 13th-seeded Frenchman Ugo Humbert had to withdraw from the tournament owing to an injury. The fifth seed had a relatively decent grass court season, and he will look to do well during the hard court season.
Dan Evans vs Grigor Dimitrov: Prediction
The match is in the balance as there is not much to separate the two players. Both players are not the biggest serves in the game and rely mainly on their groundstrokes. However, Grigor Dimitrov tends to make fewer unforced errors as compared to his opponent. The Bulgarian should just do enough to defeat Evans in a close three-set encounter.
Prediction: Grigor Dimitrov to win in three sets
