It’s coming on March 25, 2022! On Christmas day 2021, one year after season one first dropped on Netflix, the Bridgerton cast and crew celebrated the anniversary by announcing the second season’s release date. Watch the announcement for a message from your faves:
Season two will focus on Daphne’s older brother. “We left Anthony Bridgerton at the end of the first season at a bit of a crossroads,” Van Dusen said on Today With Hoda & Jenna, “so I’m looking forward to jumping in and see how he fares in the marriage market.”
We'll also get more insight into Queen Charlotte. In February 2022, Golda Rosheuvel told Tatler, “I’m pleased they keep pushing the journey of her private life, so it’s not just about the glamour of the balls but also a deep delve into her heart. You’ll see a lot more of the yin to her yang. I just love that she’s such a complex character; she’s mischievous, dedicated to the Crown, dedicated to the gossip and the pomp and ceremony. It’s so fun to play.”
So, who is Kate Sheffield, Anthony’s leading lady? In the second book, The Viscount Who Loved Me, Kate Sheffield is the older sister of the woman Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) is set to marry, Edwina. But when she decides Mr. Bridgerton isn’t good enough for her little sis, it kicks off an enemies-to-lovers plot that readers love.
Back in February 2021, Netflix announced that Sex Education star Simone Ashley would be taking on the role of Kate, who will now be known as Kate Sharma. That May, People shared the first photo from the set of season two that features our new main couple, Anthony and Kate. What should the fans expect between these two? “A lot of arguing,” Ashley said on September 25, 2021 during the Tudum fan event.
