Blogging Babes: Get to Know Heather and Jessica of Gofugyourself!

__

TGBD: Fess up: Have you ever tried a look of any sort because you spotted it on a celebrity and love it so much you just couldn't help yourself?__

Jessica: Oh, sure—at least to a point. I would have loved to have tried wearing YSL Tributes like every starlet in town, because I am in love with them, but they're also like $1300, and I had to pay my rent instead. But I think everyone who is interested in celebrities and fashion and style has multiple moments when they see, say, Jennifer Lopez in a cape (or whatever) and think, "I TOTALLY need a cape." I think for me, this tendency mostly plays out in haircuts and shoes. When Katie Holmes first cut her bob, I almost went and got a bob like five times.

Heather: Yeah, hair and shoes are my weaknesses, which is interesting because I hate my feet and can't really do much to change my hair. It's long and curly, and I am inept with it—basically, I either air-dry it and hope for the best, or straighten it for variety... and hope for the best. So when I see an awesome haircut, like Katie's banged bob or Jenny McCarthy's smooth asymmetrical one, I start getting these crazy ideas about how fun that would be, and have to remind myself that we do not have the same hair. And that I would look like Carrot Top if I tried their style. As for shoes, I feel like so many clothing trends aren't suited to me—I need to wear a bra, for one thing, and for another, I'm a slight pear shape and so it can be hard to fit me consistently. But shoes always fit, so they tend to be the subject of my fantasies. I had a dream the other night that I bought four pairs of Louboutins and hid them from my husband in the garage. That might end up actually happening someday.

TGBD: Ok, now it's time for your own Fug confessions: What trends with your clothes, hair and makeup have you gone for in the past that you now wish you had never have been attempted in the first place?

Jessica: Does all of my high school career count? Or the time I had a perm? Or my giant bangs in 8th grade? Although, to be fair, in 8th grade, giant bangs were the bomb. I don't think there's a woman alive who doesn't look back on some of what she once wore with disgust. I had a whole stretch in college when I was wearing reverse-fit jeans. THE HORROR. But fashion wouldn't be any fun if you couldn't look back on some of the stuff you used to wear and wonder what you were thinking.

Heather: I really wish I hadn't ever worn stirrup pants. Granted, I was 14, but still. And because I went to college in a cold climate, there are a lot of big, plaid flannel shirts in my past. Oh, God, and I went to school for a year or two in Miami, where everyone looks perfect and wears tiny shorts, so I wore a bunch of them that were WAY too short for a lot longer than I should have just because that's what everyone else did. Sigh. I wish I could delete those years from my memory banks. Fortunately I have almost no pictures.
