Beauty Recipe: The Banana Milkshake Hair Mask (OMG It Gets Your Hair GORGEOUS--And It's Yummy Too!)

Keep drizzling coconut milk (or milk) in until the consistency is similar to your typical store-bought conditioner. I got distracted and made mine too watery, but it still worked (just caused more of a mess). Then add the honey if you want.

Step 3: Let your hair drink up the banana milkshake. Then feel free to drink any leftovers.

Apply your banana-coconut mix to dry hair in the shower or over the sink. {Sorry, no pics--I was all messy and could not figure out how to not ruin my camera. Maybe next time!} Use enough to saturate your scalp and hair, then put on a shower cap or towel and chill for 20 minutes. Crunchy Betty recommends leaving it on while you take a relaxing bath, to prevent possibly dripping banana milkshake all over your house. But if you have a small dog to follow you around and promptly clean up any sprinkles, as I do, that's really not a problem. I twisted my hair and clipped it, then put on an old gym headband and shower cap, and it wasn't too insanely sloppy while I sat down to do some work. Oh, and re: drinking the leftovers: My daughter is now ADDICTED to this banana milkshake too! Ha!

Step 4: Wash your hair as usual.

Be sure to get all the banana out, obvs. You don't want to smell like them and get attacked by a monkey, because you're going to have really amazing, shiny, healthy-looking hair that's in need of showing off! Seriously--so shiny and hydrated. This is a fantastic DIY version of my beloved [expensive] Bumble and Bumble Creme de Coco Masque.

Thanks again to Crunchy Betty for the recipe! I'm quite sure I'll be cooking up something else from your site soon.

Anyone going to try the banana milkshake hair mask? Got another beauty recipe/DIY beauty treatment you want me to pre-try for you, or that you've tried and loved? Tell me about it in the comments below and maybe I'll use it for this weekly post!
