Baldur's Gate 3 dev teases Xbox release date announcement

After waiting for what feels like an eternity, it seems that the Xbox release of Baldur's Gate 3 could finally happen soon, as Larian Studios has teased an Xbox announcement for this week.

In a tweet celebrating a plethora of nominations at The Game Awards 2023, Larian said, "Xbox fans, and fans of physical media, watch this space for a formal announcement. It's going to be a busy week."

Baldur's Gate 3 first launched for PS5 and PC in August, and Xbox fans have been waiting ever since. This is largely due to Larian struggling to get split-screen co-op working on the Xbox Series S. However, after meeting with Xbox boss Phil Spencer, Larian and Microsoft came to an agreement where Larian could drop split-screen co-op for the Series S version to get the RPG on Xbox consoles this year.

Interestingly, Larian's optimization efforts for the Series S version of Baldur's Gate 3 may end up benefitting all versions of the RPG epic, as the developer has managed to reduce the game's RAM and VRAM requirements on the console.

With a release date announcement seemingly imminent, hopefully, we'll also see the Baldur's Gate 3 achievements scan in soon.
