At least 6 tornadoes confirmed in Indiana during Sunday's severe weather

The National Weather Service has confirmed at least six tornadoes touched down in Indiana on Sunday, Nov. 5.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Six tornadoes have been confirmed touching down in Indiana on Sunday.

The first - and strongest - tornado was an EF-2 northeast of Eaton in extreme northwest Delaware County. It continued into Blackford and Jay counties, traveling 39 miles to cross the border into Ohio. The long-track tornado had a peak wind of 134 miles per hour near Portland, where we saw so much damage.

Elsewhere in Delaware County, a survey team confirmed an EF-1 in Muncie but it was a brief touchdown. Most of the damage there was caused by straight-line winds.

Three touched down in Salem, ranging from EF-0 to EF-1, according to the National Weather Service. That's roughly 50 minutes northwest of Louisville. Also in southern Indiana, an EF-1 tornado was confirmed near Springville. That's about an hour and a half southwest of downtown Indianapolis.
