Tips on how to check your Airtel number

Method 1:  Airtel USSD code

Airtel Ussd code

The USSD Code, often known as the official Airtel number check code, is the first technique that springs to mind when asked how to verify your Airtel number.

This process takes a little time, but it is safe and secure. However, it will ultimately be worthwhile. Therefore, simply adhere to the following instructions to check your Airtel phone number using the USSD code:

  • Dial *121# on your phone dialer
  • Press 3 to choose “Manage My Account”
  • Press 4 to select My Number.

Your Airtel number will then be displayed on the phone’s screen. Please, note (write) it down or even take a screenshot of it. But before that, be informed that the same SIM card must have been inserted in a phone and you must have at least N1 on it for you to be able to make a call.

Method 2: Airtel App

Airtel mobile app

In Nigeria, almost all network providers have created their branded smartphone apps to enable their subscribers to conduct transactions such as the purchase of airtime or data bundles or resolve customer service complaints. Consequently, this is also another method for subscribers to quickly check their Airtel number.

To do this, ensure that your phone has the Airtel mobile app installed on it and that the relevant SIM card is placed into an internet-connected version of the phone.

After you have installed the app on your phone, follow the steps below to get your phone number.

  • Open the already existing Application on your phone
  • Click on the Manage My Account icon in the App
  • From the menu, select ‘View and add Account’
  • Then the Details of your mobile digits will appear.

Method 3: Call Airtel’s Customer care

Call customer care

A subscriber can give the Airtel customer service agent a call and ask for your phone number. This method is tedious and time-consuming, even though it is also certain and secure. This is because the customer care service might not be reached in time.

However, you can call the Airtel customer service line at 121 or 111 and request that the attendant provides your number. They will, undoubtedly, call it for you, only after you must have satisfactorily answered a few security-related questions.

Method 4:  Ask a family or friend to call you

Ask or call a friend

For example, if you are stranded and need your number right away, you can easily find it by calling the person or acquaintance who is closest to you. When you do this, your number will appear on their phone. If you are present with the call recipient, you can quickly glance and then write the number on your phone or a notepad.

If the acquaintance is not close to you at the time, you can urge the person to send a screenshot or a text message. More on this shortly.

Method 5: ‘Call me SMS’ option

'Call me SMS' option

Sending a “Call Me SMS” to a close friend can allow them to view your Airtel number on their phone even if you do not have airtime. This SMS is free, and it can only be sent by entering *140*(your friend’s number)#

When they dial this, your phone number and the phrase “please call me back” will appear on their phone screen. Check your friend’s phone to see if it has your number on it. You will then receive and be familiar with your Airtel number.
